[He hadn't really gotten an opportunity to sightsee, ever, so taking a look around sounds like fun - when he's not on a rescue mission, at least.]

[And there is the noise of clothing ruffling. He absolutely has to shed this winter gear.]

["Soon" winds up being the better part of an hour. It turns out there is Guild-sponsored teleportation to Arizona - someplace called Phoenix. He'd inquired about the name, been very quickly delighted at the prospect of a bird made of fire and just as quickly disappointed to find out it didn't actually exist, and then arrived. From there, it was just a matter of flying to the provided coordinates - in a canyon, in a desert. He's definitely taking time for sightseeing once he gets Mark back to town, because this place is beautiful.]

[He passes a few people on the way there - a few false starts, as they all seem to be prepared for the wilderness and aren't near the coordinates provided - and finally finds one who looks completely lost. He lands in front of him - far enough away not to startle him too badly, but close enough to talk.]

Mark, right?

[Well that was a dude definitely arriving. Were those... glowing lights his wings? That was unexpected. What was he, a fairy?]

Guilty.

[He absolutely is a fairy. That said, he doesn't seem to match anyone's mental image of a fairy, which is just weird to him.]

Great - I'm Huvrye.

[A beat.]

But you probably already knew that.

[He's a bit... human sized for a fairy. That'a weird in Mark's book, but he figures that's just how things go.]

Yeah, you mentioned something about that. So, uh, still hopeful you're confident in all of this?

[He's 6'8" and a lot of people seem to think that he should be six inches. This world has very weird preconceptions of fairies.]

I wouldn't have come all the way out here if I wasn't going to follow through. And I hope you're okay with being carried, because I'm not about to piggyback you.

[Probably a bad idea to let Mark sit where the wings are, which is why it's not happening.]

Yeah, that will work. I just... Getting me to a main city would be fine. I can get a flight back or something. I've been around too long to have the whole teleportation token.

[So he'll live with a plane.]

[And with that, he moves in to pick Mark up. Bridal carry is easiest, so he goes with that.]

I'm still new enough that the guilds are taking care of me. I'll just bring you with me.

[Oh man, this is awkward. He's not used to this sort of treatment. Well, no, he's just not used to it recently. He gestures toward his abandoned things.]

Can I get those in my arms? I don't want to lose my winter gear.

[Okay, he's got two hands and both of those are occupied with carrying Mark, so he just. Puts Mark back on his feet again.]

Grab your stuff and let me know when you're ready.

[Probably should have led with that, but he's not used to being a taxi, so here they are.]

[Mark nodded and moved to bundle it all up.]

So, uh, where are we going?

Back to Phoenix. It's not too far.

[Says the guy who flew here at speed.]

[A beat.]

Unless there's another city closer by. I just don't want to try teleporting in the middle of nowhere.

[He's never used the Guild teleporter he's been lent before - another Guild member had given him a ridealong to Phoenix with their teleporter, along with a refresher on the basics - so the last thing he wants to be is incapacitated in the middle of nowhere if something goes wrong.]

[Huh, well that was a whole thing wasn't it? He had to take the 'ride' from the guy that was not experienced. Damn, he really should have said yes to Speed, but those chases of explosions...]

Do you trust me?

[That is a very broad question from a guy who was pretty set on keeping his secrets an hour ago.]

I'm an unaffiliated starfallen meta. Means I had a few months on the guild dime. I know how to use these things, and I know what most of the core guild cities look like. Not Little Love. Where were you staying?

[Turns out context is important! He pulls the teleporter out of his pocket and offers it to Mark.]

Take us back to wherever you're staying. As long as it's on the continent, I can take care of myself from there.

[And if Mark bails without him, he can at least fly back to Phoenix. He doesn't think that'll happen, but it's still a possibility.]

I'm staying in Central.

[Like he would bother to strand someone here in place of him. That would be the worst thing he could do. Before he does that, though, he starts to dress in his warm clothes again.]

So am I. That makes it easy.

[He'll wait while Mark gets his winter gear back on, folding his wings and taking a long look at the scenery. He can understand not wanting to be stuck here against your will, but this place really is beautiful.]

Most of the arrivals stay there until they find their place with the guilds.

[He looks to the guy and offers a bit of a smile.]

Thanks. For coming out to save a stranger.

Well, yeah. The Diadem is fancy - why would you leave before you have to?

[He smiles back, but the gratitude throws him a bit. It's one thing to pull a fellow soldier out of the line of fire during combat - that's duty, and also it doesn't make sense to let an ally die. This...he did go out of his way, for a complete stranger, only because the guy needed it (though the sightseeing is certainly a benefit).]

[He's not used to being able to just do a kindness. He's definitely not used to being thanked for it.]

No problem. Being stranded in the middle of nowhere isn't great, so...

[He trails off and shrugs.]

I didn't. I know what you're talking about. It's a reasonable choice.

[He finally finishes getting warm and takes the teleporter up.]

Uh, I guess hold on to me?

[General 'you' - he didn't phrase that well - but at least Mark gets what he's talking about.]

[He blinks at the followup request-]

Uh- okay?

[And puts a hand on Mark's shoulder. It's how his earlier ridealong had worked, and it's the least awkward thing he can think of right now.]

[He's been mugged there before, but it'll be fine this time. Probably.]
